RE: Unsolicited database trial requests

Thank you for your inquiry about offering a trial of your product through the Colorado AIRS database program.

Please be aware that the AIRS operational model does not permit it to post such items at this time, nor is the committee charged with communicating/marketing unsolicited vendor product offerings to libraries across the state. The exception is for vendors that respond to RFQs that the committee sends out.

RFQs are sent out every few years to seek pricing and product options for libraries in the state to consider. The last request for quotes ended in December 2011. A timeline for the next iteration has not been determined, but will not be before mid-2013.

Currently, theĀ AIRS Committee is made up of volunteers who represent the interests of their library type in setting a cost structure for databases. Fiscal and procurement rules of the state limits the role of the State Library in these activities.

Many libraries are aware of and do sometimes use the discounted services provided via Lyrasis, Amigos, and other such library service organizations, so you may wish to make sure these organizations know about your product and services. Outside of that, working directly with libraries is advisable.
